After my first speech (for lawyers in Florida), an attendee asked, “Are you sure you’re not an attorney?” I’m not, but I was delighted she thought I might be part of her community.
Audiences share versions of that feedback again and again, likely because I never give the same speech twice. Instead, my goal is to tailor the content so that every audience member feels deeply “seen” and the content feels immediately applicable to their lives.
Customizing my content for new industries, from medicine to bartending, keeps me fresh and energized. It’s one of my favorite aspects of the gig!
