Wrinkles, Botox(🤷🏻♀️?), and Adventures in Aging Gracefully
February 10 • 12-1pm CT
Zoom
What do you think about Botox?
Are you “Pro-tox”, getting the shots and feeling more confident and empowered as a result? Did you try Botox and hated it? Or maybe you see every wrinkle as a badge of honor.
Perhaps you’re like me, undecided but VERY curious, wondering,
Do I actually want Botox?
Or is my desire the result of a beauty industry that profits from insecurity and temporary paralysis making me THINK I want it?
Does it matter either way if I end up liking the way it makes me feel?
We want to hear from you!
Co-hosted with Christa Talbott (co-founder of Salon22), this event is part fireside chat, part group therapy session. Expect to laugh a lot.
In this free virtual program, we’ll:
Demystify decision-making about Botox and the aging process.
Explore the ways our generation, gender, race, and other factors inform our experience and self-image
Strive to reduce shame and judgment about whatever choices we make
Feel less alone on the bizarre adventure of aging gracefully in 2022
Inspired by my essay Botox anyone?, this event is a chance to have the deeper conversation so many of us have been craving. (Check out the rich discussion on FB here.)
Let’s gather for a playful, high energy chat. It’s free, and while we’ll center womxn’s experiences folks of all genders are welcome. Please invite friends — the more the merrier!
Curious about what to expect?
To start, Christa and I will chat about our experience considering Botox, and the ways our identities informed how we think about it. Our conversations range from playful banter to deep introspection.
A few special guests will chime in about their decision to get (or not get) the shots.
We’ll have delightful small-group discussions in breakout rooms, but if you’re not feeling up for additional connection, that’s a-ok. You’re welcome to join with your camera off and listen to some excellent tunes with Christa and me in the main room.
We’ll have a blast no matter what!
