This Isn't Normal. Be Gentle With Yourself.

Here's a text message I just received from a client:
I keep being like “Lelia would be totally okay with my workflow being interrupted by a national coup attempt.”
Compassionate self-talk is coming in REAL handy today.
Yesterday, American democracy was violently undermined in an insurgence by domestic terrorists.
The horrors of white supremacy were writ large across our nation’s Capitol.
Y’all.
It makes sense that you can’t concentrate...or that you’re immersing yourself in work as a distraction.
If you’re feeling exhausted, numb, horrified, heartbroken, unsurprised, angry, or any other emotion (or maybe all of the above simultaneously), that’s ok.
This is not normal. There’s no normal reaction.
Be gentle with yourself.
Check on your loved ones.
Drink water.
Turn off the news.
Move your body.
We will get through this
